Benefits of Peppermint

When peppermint is brewed as tea, it may relieve digestive discomforts such as indigestion and vomiting.

It can also soothe sore muscles when applied topically as a liquid or lotion.

As peppermint acts as a muscle relaxant and pain reliever, it may diminish certain types of headaches. The menthol in peppermint oil increases blood flow and provides a cooling sensation, possibly easing pain.

In addition to its pleasant smell, peppermint has antibacterial properties that help kill germs that cause dental plaque — which may improve your breath. Peppermint tea may fight clogged sinuses due to infections, the common cold, and allergies. Peppermint tea may improve energy levels and reduce daytime fatigue.

Most types of candy provide little in the way of health benefits, peppermint candies may help some conditions and make you feel less guilty about enjoying an occasional sweet. Peppermint candy usually contains sugar, peppermint oil or extract and water. Some peppermint candies contain additional ingredients, such as chocolate or artificial flavorings. To reap the full benefits of peppermint candy, make sure that the candies contain genuine peppermint oil and not artificial flavorings. While many people may enjoy the flavor and sensation of sucking on a peppermint candy, these sweet treats may provide some helpful health benefits.

Think about growing mint indoors - so it's readily available.
Select a wide surfaced container such as a window box and fill with well-drained potting soil.
Place your mint plant indoors in a bright, sunny room with temperatures over 60 degrees.
Keep your mint plant watered and moist.
