DIY Jewelry Kits Sale

A treasure trove of beads and findings all on SALE.  I've decided that in 2018 I will no longer be making any jewelry for sale on Etsy. I loved making and selling jewelry but I no longer have the time to devote. I've decided to follow my real passion is in selling home decor items, that are vintage items and DIY. I'm more about restoring or making over items, recycling, reusing and reinventing.  I'd like to start making videos and I hope to make this blog reach more people - and have some fun. In January any items that have not sold I intend to use them as giveaways on this blog, facebook and twitter or donate to a school or some children. You can follow me by clicking the links on the sidebar.

Check this sale out now - 6 days left. All of my jewelry (not just what is pictured) is now on sale in my Etsy shop.  Click the links for details on each item.

Vintage Mason Jar Painting and Distressing

I recently came across a box of  Mason Jars and wondered since I'm not going to be making jelly or canning anytime soon - what can I do with these jars? And among that box was a few Vintage (real vintage) jars.

So... I decided to take a stab at painting and distressing.

First I ran them through the dishwasher - then used rubbing alcohol to get rid of any soap film.

I used Chalk paint - that's it. I found a regular brushed worked better than a foam throw away.
2 coats and let dry 24 hours. I also did a light sanding after each coat. My finish is 2 coats matte clear spray paint.
In any project - prep work makes the difference. AND I also allowed my items to dry in the sun for at least 2 days. In the winter I bake in my oven for 2 hours at a temperature no higher than 150 degrees.

I found that with distressing - less is better. Just think of where your hands would be if you used any item day after day. Where is the most wear?

There are no longer dishwasher safe and no food or drinks. These are decorative. You can wipe clean with a damp cloth but never soak in the sink or use abrasive cleaners.

I even have some REAL Vintage jars available painted and unpainted.
